How vividly you have portrayed the paradox of freedom. We are liberated to experience what we submit to. Should we contemplate what addictions our submissions bestow?
I wrote this one as giving in to the easy way, chaining yourself with simple 'now' pleasure...maybe that message was lost, but I liked the piece, in so much as I ever like what I write, rather than choosing not to... I think we only get true pleasure from overcoming hardships and solving difficult things, true pleasure being a sustainable pleasure, in my opinion...The easy options, such as drugs, is a non sustainable pleasure, though the kicking of a habit can be a pleasure...
So maybe to be happy we need to dig ourselves the deepest darkest pit and fill it with our horrors and dive in...When/if we emerge...true extasy?
Shammi - I highly recommend not chasing the dragon, his warm embrace is merely a ploy, to feed his own insatiable self... it's teeth are sharp and it's breath destroys all around you, and it's claws are barbed and sink deep into soft soft flesh, you need to rip chunks out to remove him...
My apologies if you took this as an invitation...It was never meant to be such...
Ish - Things that need working on...Like wife, house, art...these things give a higher pleasure than the gratification of now :)
Though, I have to say, my job doesn't fit in there...A hardship that only bring a short pleasure, 8hrs of toil, for a few seconds joy as that card hits the clocking machine, and the exit is breached...

Maybe we need to kick against the pricks...
